For me, the arts industry was an inescapable conclusion...
...starting with the day of my birth. The doctors record the occupation of those who created me; Mother - Actress, Father - Singer. However I was not alone in this predetermined fate. My parents, and their parents also, had too been born into this mad house of an industry. My great grandparents were professional musicians, touring with some of England's top orchestra's. Grandmother followed suit and attended London's infamous Italia Conti, before working as a tiller girl on London's Palladium Theatre alongside Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Bob Hope. She later set up her own school, sharing all her performance knowledge with her eight children. Mother would then move to London to attend Nesta School of Ballet, and Arts Ed. before finding her way to New Zealand, and making her career as an Actress and Director, and now proud owner of Auckland Academy of Dance. Father's start was in the church, influenced most by his tragically beautiful painter of a father, and entranced by the spacious tones floating through the cathedral halls. My parents met on stage in Auckland, performing the Italian Opera "Rigoletto", planting my arrival with the nickname "Rigi".
My step father was a later but highly prominent influence in my life. Being the Events Coordinator for NZ's biggest music festival 'Nambassa', and 'Tanalorn' in Australia, he introduced me to the soul of Blues and Rock'n'Roll.
So I say it was only fate that I am who I am today. Storytelling in all forms, designing, performing, writing, acting, photography, editing, directing, is inexorable. I have an eye for imagery and a heart for inspiring content that invokes the Duede spirit to engulf my audience. I strive to pluck heart strings and visualize sensations!
